Lives We've Changed Already

The Inspiration

Forest Again was inspired by the words of Abel Barasa who said, "It is difficult to conserve on an empty stomach."

Barasa's meaning was that women, who cut and sell forest wood, cannot be asked to think about the fate of forests when they are struggling to feed their children.  We must confront conservation and poverty in chorus, for wilderness will remain only if needs are met and the forest will endure only if it provides more resources in its conservation than in its exploitation. Forest Again does just that.
